Sending a referral
Please direct the referral to the selected clinic and indicate that the patient wishes to see Dr Mia Zhang. Use the clinic’s established referral channel and confirm its requirements with reception.
Helpful clinical information
Where available, include the reason for referral, symptoms and duration, relevant ocular and medical history, visual acuity, eye pressures, current medicines and allergies, and previous ocular procedures. For glaucoma referrals, previous OCT scans, visual fields and treatment history are useful. Include the patient’s contact details, any communication needs and your assessment of urgency.
Urgent referrals
For an urgent concern, telephone the clinic to discuss the appropriate pathway. If timely assessment cannot be arranged, use the relevant emergency ophthalmology service or emergency department. Do not rely on a routine electronic referral being reviewed immediately.
